Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma have arrived in Dhaka to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s newly elected 50-member cabinet.

The Bhutanese Prime Minister was received at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Foreign Affairs Adviser M Touhid Hossain.

Earlier, the Nepalese Foreign Minister and his delegation were welcomed by Foreign Ministry Secretary Dr Md Nazrul Islam, with Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, present at the reception.

The cabinet swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, where President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, ministers, and state ministers.

The presence of Bhutan’s Prime Minister and Nepal’s Foreign Minister highlights the regional significance of the political transition in Bangladesh.

The ceremony will be broadcast live across all 64 districts on large screens, organised jointly by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and local district administrations.
