The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented comprehensive, multi-layered security arrangements to ensure a safe, peaceful, and festive celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr across the capital.

Acting DMP Commissioner Md Sarwar outlined the security plan during a press briefing at the National Eidgah Maidan on Thursday morning.

The main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30 am, with an estimated capacity of around 35,000 worshippers.

In case of adverse weather, the congregation will be shifted to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00 am.

Additionally, five congregations will be held at Baitul Mukarram Mosque, beginning from 7:00 am.

Across the Dhaka metropolis, a total of 1,771 Eid congregations will be held at 121 Eidgahs and 1,599 mosques.

In line with Saudi Arabia, three advance congregations and eight congregations for the Shia community will be held a day earlier.

Describing the arrangements as "integrated and well-coordinated", the Acting Commissioner emphasized that multiple security layers will encircle the National Eidgah Maidan.

Security measures include the installation of archways and metal detectors at all entry points, along with extensive CCTV surveillance monitored from a centralized control room.

Key access roads-including Matsya Bhaban, Press Club and Shiksha Bhaban-will have barricades and search points.

Specialized units such as SB sweeping teams, CTTC Dog Squad, and the Bomb Disposal Unit have been deployed to ensure maximum security.

Both uniformed and plainclothes personnel, including SWAT and DB members, will remain on duty, supported by watchtowers for real-time monitoring.

Separate entry gates and dedicated security arrangements have been made for women to ensure convenience and safety.

The DMP will maintain close coordination with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Fire service units and emergency medical teams will also remain on standby throughout the Eid prayers.

Similar security protocols will be enforced at Baitul Mukarram and all other Eidgahs across Dhaka to ensure comprehensive coverage.

To facilitate smooth traffic movement, diversions will be implemented at key points including Zero Point Crossing, High Court Crossing, Press Club Link Road, Matsya Bhaban Crossing, and surrounding areas.

Designated parking areas have been arranged near Public Works Building, Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB), Zero Point, Doel Chattar, and adjacent roads.

The DMP has urged all worshippers to cooperate with the security arrangements.

Devotees are advised not to carry bags, sharp objects, or flammable materials to the Eidgah grounds.

In case of any suspicious activity, the public is requested to inform nearby police personnel or contact the national emergency helpline 999.

Additional contact numbers from the DMP Commissioner's Office have also been provided for assistance.

Senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, along with members of the media, were present at the briefing.
