Another child died on Monday at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) with symptoms consistent with measles.

The information was confirmed by Dr Shankar K Biswas, spokesperson of the hospital and in-charge of the emergency department, on Monday (April 13) at around 9:30 am.

He said that within the last 24 hours, nine new patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to the hospital, while 11 patients were discharged. A total of 153 suspected measles patients are currently receiving treatment. So far, 559 patients have been treated in the measles isolation ward during the current season, with 49 deaths recorded to date.

He further noted that the number of patients admitted with measles-like symptoms has slightly decreased. However, he warned that without timely vaccination and increased awareness, the situation could worsen. He urged parents to ensure that their children are vaccinated and to follow proper health guidelines.
