Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon has urged people to extend their support to ‘Boat’ in the national election on December 30 to take ahead the spirit of Liberation War and the pace of development, reports BSS.

“We have to extend out support to Boat, the poll symbol of Awami League and its allies, in the national election to take ahead the spirit of independence, Liberation War and economic development,” said Menon while speaking at a discussion meeting at Nursing College here today.

Anti-liberation force had tried to divert the spirit and achievements of Liberation War in different direction by killing Bangabandhu in 1975, said Menon who is contesting the December 30 national polls from Dhaka-8 constituency as a candidate of AL-led 14-party alliance.

Blaming the BNP-Jamaat alliance for unleashing a rule of corruption and violence when it was in power, Menon said the countrymen do not want to see such misrule and corruption in the country.

Nursing College principal Dr Josinta Gomez presided over the discussion while president Dhaka Medical College Teachers’ Association President Prof Dr Abu Yusuf Fakir, Dr Alauddin and Swadhinata Chikitsa Parishad general secretary Iqbal Hossain Sabuj, among others, spoke at the programme.
