Developed country by 2041, AL pledges in polls manifesto
The ruling Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina has pledged to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021, and developed country by 2041.
Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said this while unveiling the polls manifesto at at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital.
AL will introduce 5G internet service in Bangladesh by 2023 if they come in power again. The charges for using internet and mobile will be reasonable, she said.
The AL president said the party will undertake programmes to upgrade villages to cities. Electricity will reach every household, and all the villages will be connected to the district and upazila towns via concrete roads.
She pledged, Bangladesh’s poverty rate would be pulled down to zero by 2041. The employment opportunities will be created for 1.24 lakh youths.
A sub-committee of the ruling AL, headed by its Presidium Member Dr Abdur Razzaque, finalized the election manifesto.
Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Mashiur Rahman, Political Affairs Adviser H T Imam, AL Adviser and Premier University Vice Chancellor Dr Anupam Sen, former Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr A A M S Arefin Siddique and AL Organizing Secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, among others, were the members of the sub-committee.
