BNP infighting leaves 100 injured in Faridpur

More than 100 people were injured in a clash between two groups of BNP in Faridpur's Saltha on Saturday, November 29.

Police and locals said Matubbar Nuru and Jahid, both supporters of BNP candidate for the Faridpur-2 constituency, Shama Obayed Islam Rinku, had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the locality under Gatti union.

The men of Nuru and Jahid, equipped with locally made weapons, clashed at Baliagatti Bazar around 7:00 am, and later, people from several villages were involved in the clash, leaving more than 100 injured.

Several houses and shops were vandalised during the clash.

The police and army personnel were working together to control the situation, said Saltha police station's sub-inspector Maruf Hasan, adding that more details will be provided later.
