Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has said he is set to resign from the interim government before the upcoming election.

He stated that the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing will formally announce his resignation.

He made the remarks at a press conference held at the Local Government Division’s conference room in the Secretariat on Wednesday, December 10, afternoon.

Asif Mahmud said he intends to contest the election, but the party under which he will run will be disclosed later.

Appointed at the beginning of the interim government’s formation, Asif Mahmud was initially given charge of the Labour and Employment and Youth and Sports ministries.

Later, excluding the Labour Ministry, he was assigned responsibilities for the Local Government, Rural Development, and Time ministries.

Currently, excluding the Chief Adviser, the Advisory Council comprises 22 advisers. If Asif Mahmud steps down, the number will drop to 21.

The Chief Advisor directly oversees five ministries and divisions, while all but ten advisers are managing multiple portfolios.
