Jamaat-led 11-party alliance meets CEC

Leaders of an 11-party alliance, led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, met with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and other officials on Wednesday over smear campaigns on social media and the overall situation centring the 13th national parliamentary elections.

The meeting began around 4:30 pm and was led by Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami and head of the alliance’s publicity and media wing.

Also present at the meeting were CEC officials, including the Election Commission Secretary, along with senior members of the alliance: Mubarak Hossain, Central Executive Council member of Jamaat-e-Islami, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, former advisor and NCP election coordinator, Professor Abdul Jalil, Joint Secretary General of Khelafat Majlis, Tofazzal Hossain Miyaji, Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, Fazlur Rahman, Finance Secretary of Khelafat Majlis, Faisal Mahmud Shanto, Joint Member Secretary of NCP, M Abdul Wazed, Dhaka North Secretary of Bangladesh Development Party, Principal M Mahbubur Rahman, Advisory Council member of LDP, and Mohammad Alfat Hossain, Joint General Secretary of AB Party.

The meeting reportedly focused on election-related issues, with alliance leaders presenting their concerns and suggestions to the Election Commission.
