Islami Bank’s Facebook page hacked; hackers threaten cyberattack

The official Facebook page of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC was hacked on Friday (October 3). During the incident, the hackers changed the profile and cover photos and posted a threatening message.

The hacker group confirmed the takeover of the page from their controlled account at 5:42 am. However, the page’s name remained unchanged. By around 10:30 am, the page became inaccessible and could not be found even through Facebook search.

The hackers, identifying themselves as ‘Team MS 47OX,’ claimed they had been monitoring the bank’s activities and threatened a major cyberattack on the bank’s Facebook page and website soon.

Nazrul Islam, head of the bank’s Public Relations Department, confirmed to the media that the Facebook page had indeed been hacked and said the bank’s IT department has already started working to resolve the issue.

The incident has raised concern among the bank’s customers and the general public. Many reported seeing unusual posts on the page during the hack, though it is not yet clear whether the bank’s online services were affected.
