Gold prices rise to Tk 2.17 lakh per bhori

The Bangladesh Jeweler’s Association (BAJUS) has raised the prices of gold, with 22 carat gold up by Tk 1,050 to Tk 2,17,382 per bhori (11.664 grams), the highest so far in the country’s history.

Besides, 21-carat gold was increased by Tk 1,004 to Tk 2,07,503 a bhori, 18-carat by Tk 852 to Tk 1,77,853, and gold of traditional method by Tk 723 to Tk 1,48,074 respectively.

The prices have been hiked following a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market, BAJUS said in a statement on Sunday, October 19.

The new prices will come into effect from Monday, October 20.

Earlier on October 15, the price of 22-carat gold was hiked to a record high of Tk 2,16,332 per bhori.
