A ship carrying 60,950 tonnes of wheat from the United States has reached the Chattogram Port.

The vessel, MV LOWLANDS PATRASCHE, reached the port's outer anchorage, the Ministry of Food stated in a press release on Friday, December 5.

The wheat consignment is the fourth under a government-to-government (G2G) purchase arrangement signed to import a total of $4.40 lakh tonnes of wheat from the US.

Earlier, the first shipment of 56,959 tonnes of wheat arrived on October 25, the second of 60,802 tonnes on November 3, and the third of 60,875 tonnes on November 15.

Sample testing of the wheat on board has already begun, and necessary measures will be taken to unload the consignment soon once the examination is completed, the release said.
