The price of gold in the country has risen again. The cost of high-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has increased by Tk 1,050, bringing the price to Tk 218,117 per bhori. This is the highest price gold has ever reached in the local market.

The increase follows a rise in the price of locally refined gold (pure gold). According to the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity (BAJUS), the new price will come into effect on Monday, 22 December.

The decision to raise the price was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Sunday, 21 December. A notice signed by the committee’s chairman, Masudur Rahman, later confirmed the decision.

Earlier, on 16 December, the price of high-quality gold was increased by Tk 1,470 per bhori. Before that, the price was raised by Tk 3,442 on 14 December and by Tk 1,050 on 12 December.

Due to these consecutive price hikes, a new record has been set for the highest gold price in the domestic market. Previously, the highest price of one bhori of high-quality gold was Tk 217,382, at which gold was sold in the country from 20 to 22 October.
