Gold prices hit record highs, tracking global market

Gold prices in Bangladesh have surged again within 24 hours, breaking all previous records in line with rising prices in the international market.

The price of 22-carat gold, the highest standard, has increased by Tk 3,966 per bhori (11.664 grams), taking the price to Tk 2,22,073 per bhori.

This is the highest price ever recorded for gold in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) said the increase was made in response to a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.

The revised prices will come into effect from Tuesday, December 23.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held on Monday (December 22), according to a notification signed by the committee’s chairman, Masudur Rahman.
