Banks to remain open Saturday

All banks across the country will remain open on Saturday to facilitate financial transactions related to the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.

A circular issued by the Department of Off-site Supervision of the Bangladesh Bank confirmed the decision, following a request from the Election Commission Secretariat on Tuesday.

According to the circular, the temporary opening will allow candidates to deposit nomination fees, purchase Voter List CDs through bank drafts, pay orders, or treasury challans. The directive applies to all branches of scheduled banks nationwide.

The move is intended to support the electoral process and ensure the smooth completion of administrative formalities within the stipulated timeframe.
