Gold price jumps Tk 1,574 per bhori, hits record high
Gold prices in the domestic market have surged to an all-time high, with the price of 22-carat gold increasing by Tk 1,574 per bhori to Tk 2,27,856.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said the hike was driven by a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market. The new prices will come into effect from Sunday, December 28.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Saturday.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
This latest increase marks the highest gold price ever recorded in Bangladesh, further adding to pressure on consumers amid rising commodity prices.
