The prices of four types of fuel, diesel, octane, petrol, and kerosene, have been reduced by Tk 2 per litre, according to a notification issued on Wednesday (31 December) by the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.

The new prices came into effect from midnight on Thursday (1 January). Diesel now costs Tk 102 per litre, down from Tk 104. Similarly, octane has fallen from Tk 124 to Tk 122 per litre, and petrol from Tk 120 to Tk 118 per litre. Kerosene is priced at Tk 114 per litre, Tk 4 less than petrol.

Fuel prices in the country are determined monthly through an automatic pricing mechanism, which follows global oil market trends. According to the revised “Guidelines for Automatic Pricing of Petroleum Products,” this reduction aims to ensure the supply of fuel at relatively affordable rates for January.

Earlier, on 1 December, the prices of all fuel types were increased by Tk 2 per litre.
