Bata Bangladesh has inaugurated its largest franchise store inside CSD Tower at Dhaka Cantonment, marking a significant step in its ongoing retail expansion strategy and reinforcing its commitment to serving diverse customer segments across the country.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday and was jointly led by Faria Yasmin, Managing Director of Bata Bangladesh, and Brigadier General Md Mozammel Hossain, Managing Director of CSD (Canteen Stores Department).

The event was attended by senior officials from both organisations, underscoring the strategic importance of the collaboration, said a press relese.

Representing Bata were Arfanul Haque, Retail Director; Malik Kabir, Head of HR; Nusrat Hasan, Head of Marketing; and Shahjahan Sunny, Head of Franchise.

From CSD, key attendees included Major Mir Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed, Head of Central Plan and Procurement; Lieutenant Colonel Md Asif Abdur Rouf, Head of Shops Operations; Major (retd) Md Shakhawat Hossain Khan, CFO (Marketing and Customer Relations); and Md Shamsuzzaman, Senior Manager.

Spanning approximately 1,500 square feet, the new outlet is located within CSD Tower – a government-operated retail complex under the Ministry of Defence that offers essential goods at subsidised prices to defence personnel and their families. The store will provide CSD-registered customers access to a wide selection of Bata’s internationally recognised footwear, known for its blend of quality, comfort, and affordability.

The partnership aligns with Bata Bangladesh’s long-term vision to expand its retail footprint while supporting institutions dedicated to national service and welfare. “This store reflects our commitment not only to growth but also to serving those who serve the nation,” said a Bata spokesperson at the event.

CSD, which operates under a mandate to ensure the welfare of military personnel through reliable and controlled retail services, welcomed the collaboration as a value-added offering for its community.

The launch of the CSD Tower outlet underscores Bata’s continued investment in Bangladesh’s retail landscape and its strategy to make quality footwear accessible across both civilian and institutional channels.
