Gold prices rise by Tk 7,348 per bhori
Gold prices in Bangladesh surged by Tk 7,348 per bhori (11.664 grams) for 22-carat gold, pushing the price of the highest-quality gold to a new record of Tk 269,788 per bhori.
The increase, announced by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Wednesday, January 28, marks a historic high in the domestic gold market.
The new rates came into effect from 10:15 am, following a rise in refined gold prices in the local market.
BAJUS said the decision was made at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on January 25 and was later confirmed in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
The latest hike follows a price increase on January 27, when 22-carat gold had risen to Tk 262,440 per bhori, breaking the previous record at that time. Wednesday’s revision has again set a new benchmark for gold prices.
Under the revised pricing structure, gold prices per bhori are: 22-carat Tk 269,788, 21-carat Tk 257,483, 18-carat Tk 220,741, and traditional-method gold Tk 181,725.
Despite the surge in gold prices, silver prices remained unchanged. The current rates per bhori are: 22-carat silver Tk 7,757, 21-carat Tk 7,407, 18-carat Tk 6,357, and traditional-method silver Tk 4,782.
