Fuel prices cut by Tk 2 per litre
The government has reduced fuel prices by Tk 2 per litre across the country. The new rates will take effect at the consumer level from February 1.
The Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry announced the decision through a gazette notification issued on Saturday night.
According to the notification, the price of diesel has been reduced to Tk 100 per litre from Tk 102. Octane will now be sold at Tk 120 per litre, down from Tk 122, while petrol prices have been lowered to Tk 116 from Tk 118 per litre. Kerosene prices have also been reduced by Tk 2, bringing the new rate to Tk 112 per litre from the previous Tk 114.
Since March 2024, the government has been setting fuel prices automatically in line with the global market, with adjustments made on a monthly basis.
