Gold prices in the country have dropped again, with the rate of the highest quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) reduced by Tk 6,590, bringing the new price to Tk 251,184 per bhori.

According to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the price cut follows a decline in the market rate of pure gold, and the new rates took effect from 10:45 am on Monday (February 2).

The decision was made during a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Monday, after which Chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin issued a signed notification announcing the new prices. Earlier, BAJUS had announced a price cut of Tk 1,925 per bhori for high-quality gold, which came into effect this morning. Following that, a further reduction was decided.

With the latest adjustment, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori stands at Tk 239,754, 18-carat gold at Tk 205,520, and traditional gold at Tk 168,195 per bhori.
