BB to release new Tk 10 note Tuesday
Bangladesh Bank will release a newly designed Tk 10 banknote into circulation on Tuesday, February 3, under its new series title “Historical and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh,” the central bank said on Monday, February 2.
The announcement was made through a press release issued by the Department of Communications and Publications of Bangladesh Bank.
The central bank has undertaken an initiative to print new-design banknotes of all denominations—Tk 1,000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, and 2. So far, new notes of Tk 1,000, 500, 100, 50, and 20 have already entered circulation.
The newly designed Tk 10 note, bearing the signature of Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur, will initially be issued from the central bank’s Motijheel office, with distribution later expanding to other Bangladesh Bank offices nationwide.
The note measures 123 mm by 60 mm. Its front side features an image of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the left, with the national flower shapla (water lily) in the background at the center. The reverse side carries artwork from Graffiti-2024. The note is predominantly pink in color.
Security features include a Royal Bengal Tiger watermark, an electrotype watermark displaying the numeral “10,” Bangladesh Bank’s monogram, a 2-millimetre color-shifting security thread, see-through images, and microprinting. The security thread changes color from red to green when tilted.
Bangladesh Bank said all currently circulating banknotes and coins will remain legal tender. It also noted that non-exchangeable specimen Tk 10 notes have been printed for collectors and will be available for purchase at a fixed price from the Currency Museum Division in Mirpur.
