Gold price rises by Tk 7,640 per bhori
The price of gold in the country has been revised upward, with 22-carat gold now rising by Tk 7,640 per bhori (11.664 grams), reaching Tk 262,090 per bhori, the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) announced on Saturday, February 7.
The increase reflects a surge in local market rates for pure gold. The new prices took effect from 10:00 am.
The decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.
Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, chairman of the committee, confirmed the revised rates in an official statement following the meeting.
The revision comes just one day after 22-carat gold prices were reduced by the same amount.
Other gold categories also recorded price increases, with 21-carat gold rising by Tk 7,290 to Tk 250,193 per bhori, 18-carat gold up by Tk 6,241 to Tk 214,443 per bhori, and traditional-method gold climbing by Tk 5,074 to Tk 175,485 per bhori.
Silver rates remained unchanged, with 22-carat silver priced at Tk 6,357 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,065 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,190 per bhori, and traditional-method silver at Tk 3,907 per bhori.
