Gold prices reduced again
Gold prices in the country have been reduced slightly. The price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been cut by Tk 3,266, bringing the new price to Tk 255,558 per bhori.
The reduction follows a drop in the market price of pure gold. According to the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS), the new rates will take effect from 9:30am on Wednesday (February 18).
The decision to lower gold prices was made at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. A notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin confirmed the change.
Previously, from 10:00am on Tuesday, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 2,216. Less than 24 hours later, prices were reduced again.
The price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk 255,558 per bhori, 21-carat gold at Tk 243,953, 18-carat gold at Tk 209,077, and traditional gold at Tk 171,111.
Previously, the prices were: 22-carat gold at Tk 258,824, 21-carat gold at Tk 247,044, 18-carat gold at Tk 211,760, and traditional gold at Tk 173,327. Gold was sold at those rates until 9:29am today.
Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged. The price per bhori is Tk 6,357 for 22-carat silver, Tk 6,065 for 21-carat silver, Tk 5,190 for 18-carat silver, and Tk 3,907 for traditional silver.
