The price of gold surged in the country on Saturday, with 22-carat gold, the highest quality, rising by Tk 3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new rate to Tk 258,824 per bhori.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

According to the decision, the increase came in response to a rise in the local market price of refined gold (tejabi gold). The revised rates took effect from 10:15 am.
