Gold price rises by Tk 3,266 per bhori

The price of gold in the country has been increased again, with 22-carat gold rising by Tk 3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 247,977 per bhori, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The revised prices came into effect from 10:00 am following a rise in the price of refined gold in the local market.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring and was later confirmed in an official statement signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin on Wednesday, April 1.

This marks another consecutive adjustment in gold prices. Earlier, prices were increased by the same margin, while on March 28, two separate hikes raised the price of 22-carat gold by a total of Tk 6,590. In total, the price of high-quality gold has increased by Tk 13,122 over four successive revisions.

Under the latest adjustment, 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 236,721 per bhori after an increase of Tk 3,149. The price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,682 to Tk 202,895 per bhori, while traditional gold is now priced at Tk 165,279 per bhori following an increase of Tk 2,216.

Despite the rise in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged. BAJUS stated that 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 5,715 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 5,424, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,666, and traditional silver at Tk 3,499 per bhori.

Market observers say the latest price hike reflects fluctuations in the local bullion market, driven by changes in the cost of refined gold.
