The newly appointed Education Adviser, CR Abrar, said on Wednesday that the interim government will focus on establishing good governance and implementing reforms to overcome the crisis in the education sector. He mentioned that the previous Awami League government had embezzled billions of taka, causing significant damage to the education system, which is now on the brink of collapse. To tackle this, the interim government will prioritize good governance and reforms.

He made these remarks on Wednesday, March 19, while addressing a discussion on "The Past, Present, and Future of Madrasa Education" at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.

The Education Adviser emphasized that science-based education will be introduced in madrasas, ensuring that madrasa students are equipped for social life. He stressed the importance of developing a science-based educational system for them and ensuring its effective implementation.

Abrar also pointed out that in the past, many individuals had been falsely labeled as militants due to their attire. He called for those involved in such actions to be brought to justice, adding that while there may be bad individuals in any profession, it is unjust to label everyone negatively. He further emphasized that any criminal activity within madrasas should be thoroughly investigated, and those guilty should be punished.

The event was chaired by Dr. KM Kabirul Islam, Secretary of the Madrasa and Technical Education Division of the Ministry of Education. Officials from the ministry, various departments, as well as madrasa principals, teachers, and students, attended the session.
