Bangladeshi students to join global strike in solidarity with Gaza Monday

In response to a global call for a strike on April 7, 2025, Bangladeshi university students have announced their participation in the movement, standing in solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Students from numerous prominent institutions across the country, including BRAC University (BRACU), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Daffodil International University (DIU), Dhaka University (DU), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), and Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), have issued statements declaring their support for the strike.
The strike urges the suspension of all academic and professional activities as a form of protest against the ongoing violence in Gaza. This global movement has gained momentum amid escalating Israeli military aggression in the region, which has resulted in catastrophic humanitarian consequences.
The Revolutionary Students' Council has also called for a nationwide student strike on Monday, aligning with the global movement demanding an immediate end to genocide in Gaza, Palestine.
The council emphasised that the strike aims to pressure world leaders, the United Nations, and the international community to take decisive action to protect Palestinians and hold Israel accountable for its military operations.
According to reports by Al Jazeera, at least 46 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes in the past 24 hours alone.
Since October 2023, the death toll in Gaza has reached a staggering 50,695, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry. The situation has grown increasingly dire, with towns like Rafah isolated, and intensified attacks devastating areas such as Khan Yunis and Jabalia. Even in the West Bank, killings by Israeli forces have taken on a horrific dimension.
The global strike seeks to draw attention to the plight of Palestinians and demand accountability for the atrocities committed against them. By halting daily activities, students and activists worldwide aim to amplify their voices and push for immediate intervention to stop the violence.
In Bangladesh, students are organizing processions and rallies in major cities to express their solidarity with Gaza. Through these efforts, they hope to contribute to global pressure on political leaders and institutions to act decisively in addressing the crisis.
Monday’s strike represents a coordinated global effort to stand with the Palestinian people and demand justice for the loss of life and destruction in Gaza. Bangladeshi students, alongside their peers worldwide, are determined to play a pivotal role in this movement, ensuring that the voices of those suffering in Gaza are heard loud and clear.
