DUCSU elections: 442 collect nomination forms on last day
On the final day of nomination collection for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections, 442 candidates collected forms to contest for various positions, bringing the total number of aspirants to 565.
Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin announced the figures at a press conference on Monday afternoon, August 18.
The briefing was held at the office of the Chief Returning Officer on the third floor of the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building at Dhaka University.
Dr Jasim Uddin confirmed that 442 students collected nomination papers on the last day of the nomination period.
Additionally, a total of 1,226 candidates have filed nominations for the Hall Union elections across the university’s 18 residential halls.
Addressing allegations of code of conduct violations, the Chief Election Commissioner responded to claims involving Chhatra Dal leader Tanvir Bari Hamim. “We did not observe any such violation,” he stated.
“Each candidate was accompanied by a maximum of five supporters, which is within the rules. We have advised them not to raise slogans or create disturbances in the lobby area.”
The election authority has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair and orderly nomination process ahead of the upcoming DUCSU polls.
