Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has called for the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RACSU), hall union, and senate elections to be held after Durga Puja.

Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir, vice-president candidate of the Chhatra Dal panel in the RUCSU elections and vice president of the university unit of JCD, told journalists at the university’s transportation market about their panel’s stance.

He said, “We always believe in democracy. We have noticed that the festive atmosphere and the movement of voters that existed 48 hours ago have now largely subsided. There are practically no voters, and most students have returned home. We want a fair election with maximum voter turnout.”

He further added, “If the Election Commission takes voter turnout into account, I would urge you to try to gauge the students’ pulse. I want the elections to be held after Durga Puja.”

According to the schedule, the RUCSU elections are currently set to take place on 25 September.
