An assistant teacher in Pabna was injured after being assaulted by a group of parents for allegedly locking up the school and joining a shutdown programme without conducting the annual examinations.

The injured teacher, Rajib Sarkar, serves as an assistant teacher at Banwarinagar Model Government Primary School in Faridpur upazila of Pabna.

He alleged that he sustained head injuries after being struck with a brick thrown by agitated parents. Rajib received four stitches and is currently undergoing treatment.

Md Mahbubur Rahman, a convener of the Primary Teacher Demand Implementation Council, confirmed the incident to Jago News.

He said teachers had boycotted the exams as part of an ongoing movement to press for their demands. “Some individuals identifying themselves as parents went to the school and attacked the teachers. Assistant teacher Rajib’s head was cracked as a result,” he said.

Condemning the attack, Mahbubur Rahman said the teaching community was outraged by such a “heinous act.” He demanded that the attackers be identified and brought to justice immediately.
