The junior scholarship examination for eighth-grade students scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, has been postponed following the government’s declaration of a general holiday to mark the death of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The decision was announced in a letter issued on Tuesday, December 30, signed by Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, Controller of Examinations of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board and member secretary of the Junior Scholarship Examination Executive Committee.

According to the letter, the postponed Science and Bangladesh and Global Studies examinations will now be held on January 5.

The nationwide Junior Scholarship Examination began on December 28, with around 3,50,000 students taking part at 611 centres across the country.

The Bangla examination was held on the opening day, followed by English on Monday and Mathematics on Tuesday.
