Pry teacher recruitment: Viva-voce schedule published

The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has announced the schedule for the oral (viva-voce) tests for candidates shortlisted in the written test for the recruitment of assistant teachers in government primary schools.

According to an official notice, the viva examinations will be conducted from January 28 to February 3 across 61 districts, excluding the three hill districts. The examinations will be held simultaneously at the district level.

The notice, signed by DPE Director General Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman on Thursday, said detailed instructions were published on the directorate’s official website late Thursday night.

Shortlisted candidates are required to submit attested copies of all relevant documents to their respective District Primary Education Offices by January 27, 2026, and collect an acknowledgment receipt. In districts with a large number of candidates, multiple interview boards will be formed to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations.

Candidates must present the original copies of all documents both at the time of submission and during the oral examination. The specific date and time of each candidate’s viva will be published on the websites and notice boards of the respective district offices.

The results of the written examination were published on Wednesday night, with 69,265 candidates qualifying for the oral examination.

Earlier, the written test was held on January 9 at 2,408 examination centers in 61 districts. A total of 1,080,095 applications were received against 14,385 vacant posts, and 830,088 candidates appeared for the examination.

Officials said the Directorate aims to complete the recruitment process as quickly as possible to address the shortage of assistant teachers in government primary schools. Following the oral examinations, the final results are expected to be published by February 7, ahead of the national parliamentary election.
