Gazette issued for Dhaka Central University ordinance
The gazette of the final ordinance for the newly formed Dhaka Central University, incorporating seven government colleges in the capital, has been published.
The gazette was issued at 10:00am on Monday (February 9) on the website of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Earlier, the final draft of the ordinance was approved at a meeting of the Advisory Council on January 22, according to a press release signed by Khalid Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education.
The press release said the “Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026” was approved at the Advisory Council meeting chaired by the Chief Adviser. The primary objectives of the ordinance are to improve the quality of higher education by bringing seven government colleges in Dhaka under a single academic framework and to resolve long-standing administrative complications.
It further stated that under the new ordinance, Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College will operate as affiliated colleges of Dhaka Central University.
The colleges will retain their individual identities, while their existing infrastructure as well as movable and immovable properties will remain under their respective ownership.
