Abdul Haseeb appointed as first VC of Dhaka Central University

Professor Dr ASM Abdul Haseeb has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka Central University. He is a faculty member in the Department of Nanomaterials and Ceramic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

The appointment was announced through a notification signed by Md Shah Alam Siraj, Assistant Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, on Sunday night (15 February).

According to the notification, with the approval of the President and Chancellor, Abdul Hasib has been appointed under Section 11(1) of the Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026. His tenure as Vice-Chancellor will be four years from the date of joining.

He will receive salary and allowances equivalent to his original position prior to joining as VC and will be entitled to other benefits as per regulations. As the chief executive of the university, he is required to remain on campus full-time. The President and Chancellor may cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
