Colleges, madrasas go on a 39-day vacation
Government and private colleges and madrasas across the country went on a 39-day holiday starting from Wednesday, February 18, in observance of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Classes are scheduled to resume on March 29.
According to the Ministry of Education’s 2026 academic calendar, colleges will remain closed from February 18 to March 25 on the occasion of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and summer vacation. March 26 is a public holiday for Independence and National Day, followed by the weekly weekend holidays on March 27 and 28.
Meanwhile, government primary schools and government and private secondary schools will remain open. The final decision regarding their closure will depend on directives from the High Court, if issued.
Vocational schools and colleges, diploma institutes, BMT colleges, and other vocational institutions will begin their holiday from March 8, with classes set to resume on March 29.
