Four days after his sudden death, the late singer Jens Sumon has left behind one last musical gift for his fans, the newly released track, “Keu Janlo Na Keu Bujhlo Na” (“No One Knew, No One Understood”).

Sumon, widely cherished for his 2002 hit “Ekta Chador Hobe,” died of a heart attack on November 28 at the age of 54. His return to music had been a quiet but passionate revival, after a 16-year hiatus, he reemerged in 2024, describing his comeback as a “rebirth” and vowing to begin “from scratch.”

The posthumous release was written by Faruq Asad and composed and produced by Amit Kar, a close friend and longtime collaborator.

In a moving message on G-Series’ YouTube channel, Amit said, “Sumon was like a brother to me. We had many songs planned, but he left before we could finish them. I hope listeners find something of him in this one.”

Recorded during his recent creative resurgence, “Keu Janlo Na Keu Bujhlo Na” is among several unreleased tracks Sumon completed in the months before his death. He had been actively working with both established composers and emerging artists, driven by a deep desire to reconnect with audiences through fresh, heartfelt music.

Jens Sumon first captured the nation’s attention in the late 1990s. His debut solo album, Ashirbad (1997), launched a career marked by lyrical sensitivity and melodic warmth. Albums like Akash Kendeche, Atithi, Ashabadi, Ay Tora Ay, and Cherry followed, but it was “Ekta Chador Hobe”, aired on Bangladesh Television in 2002, that cemented his place in the country’s musical memory. He stepped away from the industry after his 2008 album Mon Cholo Rup-er Nagore, only to return last year with quiet determination.

Though his second act was brief, Jens Sumon’s final song ensures his voice endures, offering comfort, beauty, and a gentle farewell from an artist who never stopped believing in the power of music.
