Shaon arrested for 'anti-state plot'

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested actress and director Meher Afroz Shaon in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Thursday night, February 6, on charge of conspiring against the state.
Confirming the arrest, DB chief additional commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick said she is being taken to the DB office.
She will be questioned in police custody about anti-state conspiracy and be produced before the court on Friday with remand plea, he said.
Earlier this evening, Shaon’s ancestral home in Jamalpur Sadar was torched by a group of agitated people.
