Dhaka, are you ready? Pakistani band ‘Jal’ returns for 3rd electrifying concert

Get ready to relive the magic of “Adat”, “Aadat”, and “Sajni”—because Pakistani rock icons ‘Jal’ are coming back to Dhaka!

Vocalist and founding member Gauhar Mumtaz sent fans into a frenzy on Friday, October 17, with a pair of tantalising Instagram and Facebook stories: one featuring a moody skyline of Dhaka with the caption “Dhaka, are you ready?”, and another—a vibrant AI-generated visual draped in the colours of the Bangladesh flag, showing the band mid-performance, guitars in hand, energy blazing.

“Dhaka, are you ready? Gauhar Mumtaz and the Jal band are coming to Dhaka. See you soon,” the post declared—igniting instant excitement among thousands of nostalgic fans.

This will mark Jal’s third performance in the capital, following their debut in 2010 and a triumphant return at the “Legends of the Decade” concert on 27 September 2024, where their set became one of the night’s most talked-about moments.

Formed in 2002 by Atif Aslam and Gauhar Mumtaz, Jal rose to continental fame with their groundbreaking 2004 debut album Adat—a record that redefined South Asian pop-rock. Though the lineup has evolved, the band’s soul remains intact, now powered by Gauhar Mumtaz (vocals/guitar), Aamir Azhar (bass), and Salman Albert (drums).

While organisers and exact venue details are yet to be confirmed, an official announcement on date and location is expected imminently. But one thing’s certain: when Jal hits the stage, Dhaka’s air will hum with the anthems of a generation.

So dust off your old playlists, rally your concert crew—and get ready to scream “Yeh mera dil…” like it’s 2004 all over again.

Dhaka, the countdown begins.
