Music lovers across both Bengals have something special to look forward to. Popular Bangladeshi band Meghdal and Indian band Chandrabindu are set to share the stage for the very first time in a live concert in Kolkata this September.

The announcement has already stirred excitement among fans, especially given the deep musical connection between the two groups. Speaking about the collaboration, Meghdal’s frontman, Shibu Kumar Shil, described it as both emotional and meaningful.

“Chandrabindu has always been an inspiration for us,” he said. “In our early days, we used to perform their songs on stage. That connection never faded. Even now, we sometimes revisit those songs. So getting the chance to perform alongside them feels like a proud and deeply personal moment.”

A night fans won’t forget

According to organisers, the concert is scheduled for September 5 in Kolkata, though the exact venue is yet to be finalised. What is certain, however, is that both bands will perform full sets, promising a rare blend of nostalgia and contemporary sound.

Over the years, Meghdal has carved out a strong following with songs like A Hawa, Nefertiti, and Akash Meghhe Dhaka, while Chandrabindu remains iconic for timeless tracks such as Bhindeshi Tara, Geetgobinda and Bandhu Tomay E Gaan Shonabo Bikelbelaya.

Two generations, one stage

While Meghdal represents a powerful modern voice in Bangladeshi alternative music, Chandrabindu carries decades of legacy, having shaped the musical taste of the 90s generation. Now approaching nearly four decades in music, the Indian band continues to enjoy a loyal fan base.

For Meghdal, currently enjoying a strong run of live performances, this concert marks more than just another gig. It is a meeting of influence and evolution, where admiration turns into collaboration.

As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: this first-ever joint performance is shaping up to be more than a concert. It is a celebration of shared culture, memories, and the enduring bond of music across borders.
