Israel kills 98 Palestinians since Gaza ceasefire began

Despite a ceasefire that took effect in January, Israel has continued attacks across Gaza, killing at least 98 Palestinians in the besieged enclave, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The latest airstrikes struck Gaza City, claiming four lives.

Hamas has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undermining the truce, alleging his blockade is starving both Israeli residents and prisoners.

The ministry reports a war-time toll of 48,525 Palestinian deaths and over 100,000 injuries from Israeli operations.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, has floated a new ceasefire proposal.

First reported by Axios and detailed by the Jerusalem Post, Witkoff suggested a 50-day extension.

Four anonymous sources told Axios the plan includes Hamas releasing remaining hostages and restoring humanitarian aid to Gaza. During this period, Israel and Hamas would negotiate a long-term truce. If successful, the final hostages would be freed on the last day of the extension, paving the way for a sustained ceasefire.

The proposal’s timeline remains unspecified, but it signals fresh US efforts to halt the violence amid ongoing breaches.
