At least 130 Palestinians, including five children, have been killed in the past 48 hours as Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues, according to Gaza health officials.

The death toll from the ongoing conflict has now reached 49,747, with 113,213 injured, the Gaza Health Ministry reported. However, the Gaza government media office estimates the actual number, including those trapped under rubble, exceeds 61,700.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has been described as "extremely critical" by Olga Cherevko, a spokeswoman for the UN Humanitarian Aid Office (OCHA). Speaking to Al Jazeera, Cherevko revealed that over 120,000 people have been displaced in just a few days due to the intensified attacks.

The war has caused severe shortages of food and medical supplies, exacerbated by the closure of crossings into Gaza.

Cherevko emphasized that the latest Israeli strikes have made it nearly impossible for humanitarian organizations to operate effectively.

She urged the international community to intervene swiftly, warning that failure to address the crisis would leave a "permanent stain on humanity."

The escalating violence and dire humanitarian conditions underscore the urgent need for global action to end the suffering in Gaza.
