The death toll from devastating floods and landslides in Indonesia has surpassed 1,000, rescue officials said on Saturday, as authorities continue relief and recovery efforts across affected areas.

According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, at least 1,003 people have been confirmed dead, while 218 others remain missing. The disaster has impacted parts of the northwestern island of Sumatra over the past two weeks.

Rescue teams are continuing search operations amid challenging conditions, including damaged infrastructure and ongoing adverse weather, as the government mobilizes emergency assistance for displaced communities.
