Shehbaz visits Bangladesh HC in Islamabad, condoles Khaleda’s death
Pakistan Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief over the death of former Bangladesh prime minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
On the occasion, he visited the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, signed the condolence book and offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
According to statements from the Bangladesh High Commission and the Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz met Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh Israt Jahan and formally conveyed his condolences.
Press Counsellor Md Tayyab Ali and Counsellor (Consular) Sardar Mohammad Nomanuzzaman were present.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi also attended.
While signing the condolence book, the prime minister remembered Begum Khaleda Zia as a visionary leader and a prominent political figure, noting that her dedication to public service had left a lasting and inspiring legacy in Bangladesh’s political history.
He also recalled her role as a sincere friend of Pakistan.
After signing the condolence message, Prime Minister Shehbaz took part in a special prayer for Begum Khaleda Zia and extended his sympathies to her family, well-wishers and the people of Bangladesh.
He acknowledged her contributions to strengthening Bangladesh-Pakistan relations and expressed hope that bilateral ties would continue to deepen in the future.
He also conveyed his warm greetings to the Chief Adviser of the Government of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Acting High Commissioner Israt Jahan expressed her heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, for visiting the High Commission and signing the condolence book to pay tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia.
