Iran confirms Defense Minister, Army Chief killed in US-Israeli strike
Iran has officially confirmed the deaths of several senior military officials, including Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh and Chief of Staff Abdul Rahim Mousavi, following a joint US-Israel attack, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA.
The strike, which occurred on Saturday, February 28, also claimed the lives of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s security advisor Ali Shamkhani and Commander Mohammad Pakpur, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
IRNA reported that additional high-ranking military commanders were killed in the attack, with their names expected to be officially announced in the coming days.
The incident has further escalated tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns over regional stability and the potential for wider conflict.
