Khamenei’s wife dies after injuries in US-Israel strike
Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the wife of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has died from injuries sustained during a joint US‑Israel strike, Iranian media reported.
Her death was confirmed by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency Monday, March 2.
Bagherzadeh, 79, had been in a coma since the attack on her husband on Saturday, February 28, which also claimed Khamenei’s life.
Born in 1947 into a prominent merchant family, Bagherzadeh’s father, Mohammad Esmail Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, was a well-known businessman. She married Khamenei in 1964 and quietly supported him throughout decades of political upheaval.
Unlike many political spouses, she did not hold public or formal roles, maintaining a private life largely away from the media.
