Trump postpones military strikes on Iranian power plants
US President Donald Trump announced a temporary suspension of planned military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure following “productive and detailed” discussions between the United States and Iran aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Trump said the talks over the past two days have been constructive and emphasised that negotiations will continue throughout the week.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, he said, "I am pleased to report that the United States of America, and the country of Iran, have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East. Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

The five-day pause represents a shift from previously reported military preparations and allows time for continued diplomacy. Officials on both sides confirmed that talks are ongoing, although details of the discussions remain confidential.
International observers welcomed the development as a positive step toward de-escalation in a region long marked by volatility.
