3 get life term for rape in C’nawabganj

A court here on Wednesday sentenced three persons to life term imprisonment for raping a girl in Sadar upazila two years ago.

The court also fined each of them of Taka one lakh,in default to suffer one year more imprisonment, reports BSS.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 also Additional District and Session Judge Md. Ziaur Rahman gave the verdict.

The convicts are Md. Sohel alias Babu, 24, son of Kosimuddin of Chunakhali Khalifapara under Sadar upazila, Dabir Ali, 25, son of Bishu Khalifa and Md. Aminul Islam, 20, son of Faring Biswas, residents of the same area.

According to the prosecution, the convicts took the girl to Hossaindanga area in Sadar upazila by an auto-rickshaw and forcibly raped her on June 6, 2016. 

After hearing screaming of the girl, people from the adjacent areas rushed to the spot and caught them and later handed over them to Sadar Thana police.

Next day, the girl filed a rape case with the police station. After investigation, SI Md. Dulal Uddin submitted charge sheet against them to the court on June 30, 2016.

Later, the Judge, after examining six witnesses and evidences, found them guilty and handed down the punishment.
