Quota reformists demand DU Sufia Kamal Hall provost’s removal

Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council on Friday demanded immediate removal of Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall Provost for “throwing out” several female students from the hall.

Nurul Haque, a joint convener of the platform which launched the quota reform movement, made the demand while talking to reporters after a protest rally on the Dhaka University campus in the evening.

Nurul said they heard that around twenty students of Dhaka University’s Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall were forced to leave the dormitory on Thursday midnight.

But, denying the allegation, the university VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said three students were handed over to their families for their involvement in spreading rumour through Facebook accounts during incident at the dormitory on April 10.

The council leaders demanded that the hall inmates be brought back as early as possible. They also urged the university authorities not to harass any general student.
