Three teenagers drown in Padma

Three teenage boys drowned in the Padma River in Rajshahi city on Tuesday afternoon when they were taking a bath.

The dead were identified as Md Jubaraj, 12, son of Rentu, Nuruzzaman, 12, son of Nur Islam, and Arif, 13, son of Liton, residents of the city's Motihar Police Station area.

Abu Shama, senior station officer at Fire Service, Rajshahi said several teenage boys went to Shyampur Balur Ghat in Padma River around 1 pm to bathe and three of them went under the water.

Later, the divers conducted a rescue operation and recovered their bodies, he added.

Md Moniruzzaman, officer in-charge of River Police, Rajshahi said the bodies will be handed over to the respective families after taking legal measures and filing a case over the incident is underway.
