Two of the three cargo ships seized by Myanmar's separatist armed group, the Arakan Army, have been released after four days and have docked at Teknaf Land Port.

However, one ship remains under the group's custody, according to local sources.

The released ships arrived at Teknaf Land Port with goods around 12:00pm on Monday (January 20).

The confirmation came from Ehtashamul Haque Bahadur, General Secretary of the Teknaf Land Port C&F Agents Association.

Bahadur explained that the Arakan Army detained the three cargo ships on Thursday while they were en route to Teknaf Land Port from Myanmar. The group claimed they needed to search the Naf River along Myanmar’s Rakhine border. On Monday morning, two of the ships were released and subsequently arrived at the port.

The released vessels carried various goods, including dried fruits, betel nuts, and coffee. The third ship remains in the Arakan Army's custody, but it is expected to be released soon, according to sources.

Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, General Manager of Teknaf Land Port, confirmed the incident, saying, "The Arakan Army detained three ships carrying goods destined for Teknaf Land Port. Two of these ships have now been released, but one is still being held."
